Feedback is information returned to someone about their actions or performance, usually to help them understand what worked, what didn’t, and how to improve. Merriam Webster

Feedback is essentially a loop: you do something, someone (or a system) reacts, and that reaction helps you adjust what you do next. It can be positive (reinforcing what went well) or negative (pointing out what needs improvement). Cambridge Dictionary

The main types of feedback

- Performance or work-related feedback — comments on how well you did a task, often used in school, work, or creative projects.
- Customer or user feedback — opinions from people using a product or service, helping companies improve.
- Technical or system feedback — information a machine sends back to itself to adjust how it operates (like sensors in a car engine). Britannica
- Audio feedback — the loud squeal you hear when a microphone picks up its own amplified sound. Merriam Webster.

Why feedback matters

  • It helps people grow and improve.
  • It guides better decisions and adjustments.
  • It strengthens communication and collaboration.
  • It helps systems (like engines or computers) self-correct.

Via a dashboard, stakeholders in decision and action initiatives can give feedback on any issue that matters to them, such as remarks on each of the steps in the CRB, replies to recommendations, etc.

This feedback is given due consideration in the initiative.
