PRINCE 2 - PRojects IN Controlled Environments - is a process-based approach for project management providing an easily tailored and scaleable method for the management of all types of projects. The method is the de-facto standard for project management in the UK and is practiced worldwide.

PRINCE2 covers how to organise, manage and control a project. It is aimed at enabling the project team to successfully deliver the right products, on time and within budget. The principles of PRINCE2 and the associated training can be applied to any type of project.

PRINCE2 is based on seven principles and offers approaches to deliver these principles, as outlined in 7 themes, with supporting components or logs.

PRINCE2 does not cover all aspects of project management. Areas such as leadership and people management skills, detailed coverage of project management tools and techniques are well covered by other existing and proven methods and are therefore excluded from PRINCE2.
